Tested for 550 pound break strength, our Nite Ize 550 paracord is excellent for bundling small loads and rucksacks, for use in harnesses, clothes line, dummy cords, guy lines, snare lines, hanging bear bags, for use as boot and shoe laces - any task where light cordage is needed. In a pinch, you can pull the guts from the outer case and use the inner strands for fishing line, zipper pulls - even dental floss.

This is a suggestion, not a rating. One of the problems with this and all ropes of kernmantel construction is the separation of the outer sheath from the inner core after cutting. After watching people at West Marine cutting similar rope, I experimented with using a soldering iron, both to cut and to seal the ends produced by the cut. Don't be in a hurry. Let the hot iron sink through the rope, then follow up by melting the tips of inner and outer portions so they're one piece at each end.
